Flume remixing a Lorde song has made me happier than all the other campers. Lorde’s voice is the perfect fit for the Australian phenomenon’s signature sounds. The build is beautifully patient, as it lets us hear Lorde pour out her soul while the bass is slowly creeping to the forefront. Then all of a sudden, the beat cuts out and we’re flipped into a wave of flowey basslines. Big ups to Flume as he continues to cold-bloodedly kill the game. For right now we only have the stream for this absolute jam.

Australian producer Elk Road is truly one of a kind. The hallmark of a true artist is being able to manufacture something truly original yet deeply personal; something you can immediately identify as being from that artist even if it feels totally fresh. That’s basically a dead on description of how I feel about Rory and the music he’s put out so far.

The Elk Road signature sound is a high pitched, square pluck that is mastered to perfection and just sings in every track he’s put out. If you are looking for a comparison, there isn’t one. Elk Road music is a fusion of trap, jazz, swing, funk and a dash of electro dub for that futuristic tint.

“Whipped Dream” could be defined as chill trap, but that just doesn’t paint the whole picture. Signature Elk Road sounds blip and fade over heavy trap kicks and clicks with a carefully applied fusion of funk and swing. The result feels almost ambient, but immediately attention grabbing in a way that reminds me most starkly of Gramatik and Odesza. If you’re a fan of the Pretty Lights Music label, Rory’s music is for you.

As the weather heats up and festival season is in the air, you’ll probably be looking for something totally fresh; something that you’ve never heard or experienced before and you can get excited about. Elk Road is here, so look no further.

Kanye West reportedly suffered a major health scare when he began to seizure before a show in Australia. Kanye was rushed to the emergency room at Melbourne’s Epworth Hospital in Richmond where he was treated for his health issues.

An eye witness reported to Woman’s Daily:

“My daughter was having an MRI. Shortly after it began, security burst in and cleared the area,” she tells Woman’s Day exclusively.

“Everyone was moved out of the waiting and consulting rooms. We were the only ones left apart from doctors and nurses – we couldn’t leave as the MRI wasn’t finished.

“Next thing we knew, Kanye was stretchered in surrounded by security. He had one side of his face covered with something white. We both knew it was him because we had seen his photo in the paper everyday and we were shocked because it looked so serious.”

Kanye reportedly still made his show that night at Rod Laver Arena after being dismissed from the hospital at around 4:30pm.

Woah. It’s not often that I struggle to find the right words when I’m writing about music, but after I heard Lower Spectrum’s second single, “Masquerade,” my jaw hit the floor. Hailing from Australia, Lower Spectrum may be gaining traction as an international artist, but he’s already been making a name for himself soundtracking documentaries, which has undoubtedly contributed to his impressive sound design.

Warm weather’s just around the corner here in the northern hemisphere, and even though our seasons don’t quite line up, there’s nobody that makes summery grooves quite like the Aussies. This track, a collab between Paces and Rye Rye (whose voice you might recognize from this Bassnectar track), was originally released on Paces’ album Vacation earlier this year and has now gotten a dope remix from Klue.

Klue, real name Gabriel Clouston, takes the tropical vibes of the original and infuses it with the funky Afrobeat vibe that is quickly becoming his signature style. The track starts with a hazy summertime flow and cool tribal drumming, and then the surprise drop about two thirds of the way through turns it suddenly into a low key floor-filler.
